Every once in awhile, you get the opportunity to use the airplane in a unique way. Sunday was my turn. Zack Norred called to arrange a Discovery Flight. In our conversation, he asked if his girlfriend Danielle could accompany us. “Of course, Zack. Is there any special sights we should include?” I asked. Zack explained that he hoped we could fly over a nearby area where he and Danielle had met last year. Further, could we circle that spot? he asked. I agreed, becoming slightly curious as to why he wanted to do this, until he nervously explained that he planned to ask Danielle to marry him and hoped to do so during the flight.
As we departed Burnet with the unsuspecting Danielle in the airplane, we headed off to the preplanned rendevous. After a turn about the spot, Zack mustered his courage and popped the question. Danielle, without hesitation, as far as I could tell, enthusiatically accepted.

The happy couple!
I offered to perform the wedding ceremony but after checking with the FAA, discovered that Certified Flight Instructors, while omnipotent almost, do not have that authority. Oh well. Best wishes for a wonderful life to Zack & Danielle. If they are anywhere near as happy as I have been in my marriage to Judy, they will be truly blessed.
Thats pretty awesome! I would like to have done that but when I proposed to my wife she said yes but..
There are two things you can never do if we get married:
1) Own or drive a motorcycle.
2) Fly a small plane.
Hmmm… Apparently after 10 years she is not quite as concerned about my safety
congrats to the couple!!

Ken!
On behalf of Zack and myself, I just wanted to take this moment to thank you for such an amazing day back in May, 2009!!! After almost a year of marriage, I was ‘oddly’ googling my name and came across your blog! I am ecstatic to say that Zack and I are very happily married and making it through the first year of marriage, which many people say is so difficult. We are blessed to have had you as our pilot on our special engagement day! Hope all is going well for you!
Thank you again and God Bless!
